• Starting the Game
  • On the settings screen, make the adjustments based on your preferences:

      • Select the information button to learn more about the game’s developers.
      • Select the missions button to view the game’s missions.
      • Select the gear button to open the controls that turn the game’s music and sound effects on and off.
    • Select the themes button on the center left to open the theme selection menu.
    • Select the skins button on the center right to open the skin selection menu.
  • To access the mode selection and welcome screens in-game:
    • Select the pause menu, then select Exit.
    • Select Exit on the win and game over screens.

• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • Collect an even amount of particles to maintain your color:
      • Collecting white particles turns you closer to white.
      • Collecting black particles turns you closer to black.
    • Collecting more than 1 particle of the same color at once will gradually turn you a lighter or darker shade of gray.
      • In Story Mode, consuming more than one particle of the same color at the same time is an instant game over.
        • While the game offers to reverse the effects by watching an ad on Story Mode, we do not currently support ads on our site.
        • In Arcade Mode, you can pay to reverse the effects using the stars you collected.
      • In arcade mode, you can turn lighter or darker shades of gray twice before completely turning into another color. When that happens, you lose.
      • This can instantly be remedied by consuming a pellet of a different color.
    • Collect stars and ying-yang symbols.
      • Ying-yang symbols (taijitu) represent the balance of opposing forces that gray represents. Collect them to level up.
      • Stars are the game’s currency. You can unlock skins, themes, and level bonuses with the stars you earned.
      • Selecting the star button on the top left corners of the theme and skins screens will open a window that says you can buy stars to continue, but right now it is not currently active.
    • Avoid enemies.
      • Enemies take the form of aggressive black and white entries that will fire ammunition of their color art you.
      • If any of their attacks hit you, you will turn into their color. This can put you dangerously close to turning.
      • Enemies can be divided along these lines:
        • Fixed enemies don’t move. They should be easy to avoid.
        • Seeker enemies follow you around.
        • Moving enemies move around but don’t necessarily try to follow you.
        • Exploding enemies, well, explode.
      • Enemies spawn from black or white feather projections.
  • Game modes
    • Overview
      • You must choose a game mode at the start of the game.
      • The game has two modes, which determine the rules you must follow.
      • Each of the game modes have their own tutorials.
      • You can switch between the game modes on the mode selection screen.
    • Difficulty
      • At the start of the game, you can choose between 2 difficulty levels.
      • You can change the difficulty level using the switch on the mode selection screen.
    • Story/Adventure mode
      • The story mode follows the game’s premise:
        • In a world of white and black particles, a single lone gray particle forms.
        • The black and white particles are at war with one another. The gray particle threatens their way of life and must be converted to either side.
        • You, the gray particle, must retain your identity despite mounting pressure from the white and black factions.
      • Here, you must play through several levels.
        • The first level acts as your tutorial.
        • Each level has a portal at the end. Enter this to clear the level.
        • Levels are unlocked sequentially. There are 35 levels in the game.
      • Collect hidden stars.
        • Stars are often place somewhere within the corners of a level. These are guarded by rows of identically colored dots.
        • Alternate between the dots to clear a path toward them.
    • Casual/Arcade mode
      • This is set in an open world version of the game.
      • Keep track of the particles you consume from the bars on the bottom right corner.
        • The game shows you the direction each of the enemy particle approaches.
        • Each particle you consume adds up to a long-term gameplay benefit.
          • Consuming white particles will increase your field of vision.
          • Consuming black particles will increase your speed.
        • Every particle you consume adds to the bar.
        • When the bar is filled up, you receive the benefit.
      • You can consume up to two particles in a row without switching colors. You can extend this further by applying a skin that provides that bonus.
      • Collect stars and ying-yang symbols scattered around the level.
        • The game will point you toward where these symbols are.
      • You can also choose to hide from particles by going to a thicket of objects.
        • Multicolored objects will stop you and the enemy particles. They serve as a barrier.
        • You can pass through solid-colored object.
          • The particles will pass through the solid obstacles of their color but get destroyed when they hit an obstacle of a different color.
          • These is especially useful if you’re being chased by several particles at once.
      • As you play, you can earn upgrades that will help you survive by leveling up.
      • Arcade mode is divided into stages.
        • Each new session starts at stage 1.
        • Unlike leveling up, the stage progresses automatically.
        • You can check out the progress of a stage by looking at the stage progress bar on the bottom of the screen.
      • Arcade Mode has 3 rule sets.
        • Classic mode is the standard rule set with no special rules governing the attackers.
        • In Freeze Mode, enemies stop moving when you do. When you move, they do too.
        • In Keep Moving Mode, the enemies move when you stop and vice versa. To avoid them, you must never stop moving.
  • Mode selection
    • Overview
      • When playing the game for the first time, you can change the game settings from the loading screens.
      • You can customize your settings afterward by entering the mode selections screen. This loads after you press the play button on the welcome screen.

      • The left side of the screen is for story mode.
        • Select the large play button at the center to open the level selection screen.
        • Select the smaller story button to the right to replay the game’s opening cinematic.
      • The right side of the screen is for arcade mode.
        • The three buttons on the left start each of arcade mode’s three rule sets.
        • The three buttons on the left open each rule set’s tutorial.
        • The topmost of the left buttons replays the interactive video tutorial for arcade mode.
      • At the bottom row are the following controls:
        • The back button on the bottom left corner returns you to the welcome screen.
        • The switch on the bottom right corner lets to choose between easy and hard modes.
  • Arcade-exclusives
    • Upgrades
      • You can level up in arcade mode by collecting ying-yang symbols.
      • Each time you level up, you earn an upgrade.
        • Choose from one of three upgrades presented to you.
        • You keep the upgrade throughout the game.
        • Some upgrades can be leveled up. You can boost them by selecting them again each time they appear when you level up.
      • Each upgrade has a different effect:
        • Stars: Gives you stars
        • Star power: Stars will destroy enemy particles
        • Immunity: Gives you a brief period of immunity from color changing at specific intervals
        • Star multiplier: Increase the value of every star you collect
        • Score multiplier: Increase the value of every point you make while playing
        • Magnets: Attracts stars to you
        • Evasion: Gives you a small chance of evading an enemy attack while you’re fully gray
        • Gives you a brief speed boost at specific intervals
        • Spikes: Creates spikes at specific intervals to temporarily protect you
        • Armor: Conjure up rotating balls to protect you
        • Bullets: Fires bullets at random every few seconds
        • Power: Lets you move solid objects
        • Restoration: Restores your color to the middle shade of gray every few seconds
    • Scoring
      • You earn points as you play the game.
      • Every enemy particle you take out is worth 2 points.
      • Every ying-yang symbol earns you 2 points
      • Every star you collect is worth 2 points.
      • Every enemy that perishes by hitting a solid shape, shield, or bullet is worth 1 point.
  • Missions
    • Missions refer to a list of achievements that, when unlocked, provide an in-game bonus.
    • You can check out your progress on each mission using the mission button on the welcome screen.
    • Check out the table below to see all the missions or check them out in-game.
  • Themes
    • There are 10 available themes in this game. At the start, only the default theme is unlocked.
    • Some themes cost 250 stars while others are unlocked only when you finish a mission.
    • Themes will alter the appearance of the solid objects in the game.
      • Most are cosmetic adjustments.
      • The galaxy theme, once unlocked, will provide extra stars each time you play an arcade game on it.
    • Besides the general themes, you can aslo choose between day and night-based color schemes.
      • Use the switch on the bottom center to alternate between the two.

    • Skins aren’t merely a cosmetic choice; each one provides a different bonus.
